The Build-Part7-Delivery and Fixing Problems
December 11 2009 - We finally got it! Ken decided that it would be best to just honor our original contract rather than face the wasted time and expense of going to court. We had to take it back the next day because the propane tank wouldn't fill but that problem was solved quickly and he delivered it to our campground a day later. Now we could get to work and fix all of the problems.
One unanticipated surprise was the fresh water tank. It should have been about 40 gallons but we measured and calculated the volume and discovered that it was only 25 gallons! Fortunately there was room for a larger one.
25 gallon tank original installation
Tony finishing the installation on a new 44 gallon tank.
We went to an upholstery shop and had them remake the dinette cushions. Old cushions-
New cushions with seams instead of glue.
A lot of the work that we had to do wasn't any thing major , just cleaning up some sloppiness , replacing cheap pieces of paneling edging with oak strips and finishing woodwork.
Sloppy and unfinished caulk on bathroom vanity.
Finished vanity area.
Sloppy caulk strip in shower.
Finished shower wall.
One of the many wood surfaces that required another coat or two of finish.
We worked on the motorhome through December fixing the problems and finishing the interior. This is the
"before" picture with notations for some of the things that we did.
We didn’t receive the new water tank until the end of December so we didn’t have working water system until January. We filled the new tank , checked all the fittings for leaks , tried all of the faucets – success! Everything worked inside but a quick look outside revealed that water was poring out of the bottom of the motorhome. We had a major failure in the gray water tanks!
